Transmission and context
Telephone conversation with Walter Kanis, Könitzer Straße 17 in 07333 Unterwellenborn district Goßwitz,
Tel. 03671/613361, local historian Goßwitz
He states (also from his own memory - he is 70) that in the Goßwitz area, besides the
forced laborers in agriculture (several of whom died and were buried), there were also
workers from REIMAHG in the inn "Zur Krone" — no barracks (these were in
Kamsdorf), although there were not very many. The workers employed by the OT (i.e.,
by the special construction staff) were, according to his memories and eyewitness reports,
very badly treated — they did not have enough to eat, no shoes (wooden shoes), some
tried to keep warm with cement sacks, and they were also beaten.
He refers to Herbert Trentzsch in Saalfeld (by phone — local postal code to be checked) Goßwitz
(03671/612530), who worked at REIMAHG as a partial invalid (eye) (probably overseer
0.4.?), residing at Weg der Einheit 12 Goßwitz - attempts to make contact so far unsuccessful
