Camp VIII

Camp VIII near Bibra was also referred to as the Bibra tent camp. It was established comparatively early, initially with tents that were later gradually replaced by permanent buildings. Probably about 1,000 people were accommodated there, primarily so-called “Eastern workers”, as well as Italians and Poles. The interactive reconstruction shows the built state visible in the 1945 aerial photograph, including paths, the stream, bridges, drainage ditches and a septic tank. Construction details that are not clearly documented must be understood as reconstructions.
